Rabin posted on Twitter “Google can and on many instances will rank a page for query even if the query is not present on that page. @methode #nobrainerfriday.” In which, Gary Illyes from Google responded to saying “true.”
This is a topic we covered before where we showed how for years, Adobe Reader ranked incredibly well for the term [click here] and the page has no such content for that term. Why? Well, everyone links to that page with the keyword text, “click here” to download Adobe Reader to read this PDF we embedded on our site.
Adobe still ranks very well for that keyword.
Which is why John Mueller said that one time that title tags are not critical ranking factors.
