Ammon Johns, SEO Legend & Community Fixture, GoFundMe

Ammon Johns

For those who have been in the SEO industry and involved in the community for any period of time, they probably know the name Ammon Johns. He has been teaching and helping those who joined the SEO community since the 90s. In fact, I have cited him countless times in my stories on this site.

Ammon is one of those really good people and at the same time he is wicked smart. People that smart often aren’t able to convey and teach newbies to the industry but he is. He is also incredibly giving of his time and knowledge.

A Cre8asite Forum thread started by Kim Krause Berg, another personality you all know, points out that Ammon is having some health issues. We are not exactly aware of what those issues are or how serious they are, but they are serious enough for the community, without Ammon’s knowledge, to create a GoFundMe campaign for Ammon.

Contributing to this GoFundMe campaign is not just for Ammon but for the industry. I don’t know if he needs the money or if he wants the contributions but if he doesn’t, I am sure he would donate it to his favorite charity. Do the gesture and give a founding figure of our industry a token by donating to the GoFundMe campaign.

Here is what Kim had to say:

Longtime pioneer and brilliant mentor, Ammon Johns, has finally reached out for help and the industry is responding. As many of you know, Ammon helped me launch these forums when I took them from a small club to full blown forums. He and Bill Slawski, and Jill Whalen, believed in me all those years ago and made these forums popular in the early 2000’s. Ammon and I met in the mid-1990’s while helping people learn SEO in chat rooms and email lists. He is the reason hundreds of thousands of people learned SEO and how to do it authentically. His health has created situation some you can likely relate to who work from home. He is seeking work opportunities that don’t require a commute, and he needs medical care, and it sounds like a place to live. In other words, he is facing dark times and has had the courage to share he is in need of friends.

Ammon – get well soon, we are all behind you and deeply appreciate all your contributions to our community. Stay strong!
