Google’s Gary Illyes said this morning on Twitter that it makes sense to use the nofollow link attribute when you link to bad sites.
Sometimes when I cover stories here, I have to link to examples of really bad sites. Often, if the site is really bad, I will use the nofollow on those links.

Yea, he likes to dive – he has hobbies unlike some people.
So when linking out to bad sites, and your gut makes you feel bad about it, use the nofollow, it can help with indigestion.
