This week in search, I posted the big monthly Google webmaster report. I covered how Google said they may decide to release the mobile first index in batches by types of sites. Google has upset webmasters with the new featured snippets format showing one source of content and one source for images. Google AdSense now allows 300×250 ads above mobile content, what hypocrites. Google’s Leapforce cut the search quality raters hours significantly. Google Search Console is working on new AMP features. Google said mixing affiliate content feeds doesn’t add value. Google fixed a bug in their indexer via a Google support thread. Google has a lot of storage, so it doesn’t forget much. Google said stop optimizing for RankBrain, you are doing it wrong. Google said validation doesn’t matter for ranking. Google is testing a black search results interface. Google mobile AMP carousel for “fresh and viral” content. Google tests reviews by traveler type. They also test a reviews tab on the knowledge panel. Google is testing a local pack in a carousel with ads. Google Home Services ads is now in a card format. Google AdWords launched similar audiences for search. Google is testing a job search portal and the Google Home recipe feature is live.
